Rose prizes are flying thick and fast - and a year ahead. Or I guess it's just a half year now we've passed the summer solstice....the prestigious All American Rose Selections (AARS) recently announced its 2010 rose champ - Easy Does It. This is a quintessentially pretty floribunda, with a mild fruity fragrance (whenever fragrance is described as "mild" I've found that to mean barely discernable...), double, ruffled, in a luscious mango/peach/apricot shade. It's a medium sized shrub and claimed to be disease-resistant.
This is the first time in 20 years the AARS has chosen a single rose - can't help wondering if 'Easy Does It' doesn't have to share top billing because it's so far superior to the rest - or because there just weren't lots of great choices this year? Either way, this is a seriously ruffled rose in a gorgeous color, produced by Weeks Roses of California, and due on the market this autumn...
