What better place to celebrate autumn's beauty than at the Dunn Gardens? This Olmsted designed garden in the north end of Seattle is at its best in autumn when the mature deciduous trees are in their full fall glory. On Sunday, October 11, the public is invited to stroll the gardens (no admission charge, but please RSVP) from 2-4 p.m. There'll be refreshments, free tours, Riz Reyes and the Kruckeberg Garden will be selling plants, and glass artist Jesse Kelly will be on hand with a crop of luminous pumpkins For directions, and to RSVP online, see the
Dunn Gardens website.
If you can't make it, or can't wait to go back, curators and uber-designers Charles Price and Glenn Withey will teach a "Winter Color" workshop in the gardens on October 13 from 6-8 p.m.. On November 10 Steve Lorton, former Northwest Bureau Chief of Sunset Magazine, will give a talk called "Nearly All Natural for Christmas". Lorton's a natural comedian himself, so expect to have a blast at this class....

OOh man, I hope I feel better by then! I love seeing this garden in the fall!

Thank you Val! And a quick note. The gardens look spectacular, but we've been clobbered by the economy, so please remember to come armed with your support by becoming a member (you'll get a free real pumpkin from T & L nursery) and help us underwrite some of the curators' wish list items. We look gorgeous, but beauty needs maintenance.

Who doesn't love a pumpkin! Hope to see you there. Fall is the unsung spring in the Pacific Northwest!
