The first week of September, a couple of garden celebs from Portland visited me in Langley to photograph gardens for a new book. Known for its planted alleys, streetside art, and flowers everywhere, Langley was a perfect location for Lucy Hardiman's photo shoot. She's working on a book on front yard gardens, co-authored by Cole Burrell, to be published by Timber Press.
I had great fun following Lucy around as she took photos, and introducing she and her friend Nancy Goldman to Langley artists and gardeners. They were taken by the re-purposed art pieces of John Alsip, and are planning to bring a group of Portland gardeners to the island for a class with John and to tour gardens next summer....
Here's Lucy very early on a September morning photographing Toni Tulley's lovely little cottage garden, and John Alsip's green-roofed booth in the Star Store parking lot, which is sure to make it into the book....

Dear Valerie, I am writing you about the great picture of the Tim Leonard Crows in last Sunday's paper. This is incorrectly listed as Sharen Heath's house and is the home of my clients Robin and Jerry Koeller at 4935 Fire Weed Place in Langley. I spoke with you years ago about doing an article on the home as it has many lovely art furnishings and garden spaces outside every door. It is currently on the market for $989,500.00 (MLS #4405) and has beautiful water views also. There are many more great pieces of Crow artwork inside as well.
Thank you for making a correction if possible and helping to promote the location in any way you can. Many Thanks.
Kind Regards,
Sharon Boyle
