Look what a friend found nestled into her strawberry bed...she wrote that the tiny bird nest with three perfect eggs, hidden beneath the leaves, took her breath away when she accidently came across it searching for ripe berries.
Such unexpected brushes with nature, such full and beautiful moments, bring home how our gardens are an integral part of the bigger web of life...we forget this until the veil parts with a glimpse of insect, egg or hummingbird, and we see how our plants provide shelter and sustenance for creatures besides ourselves.

How lovely! Just the sort of thing that would give your day a change of mood if you were feeling down.

I was in a nursery just last week and found a little nest just like this one in a low shelf of plants...I stayed awhile to see if any parents were around and they were Oregon Juncos which are probably what this one is. It would be fun to know if they are of the same bird!
At first I thought the little nest wasn't real (because it was so perfect):) and just part of the nursery props but then realized that only in nature can something be that perfect and beautiful! :)
