Submit your sealed bid (minimum bid $749,000) by June 15 to buy what's left of the world-famous mecca of a nursery built by years of hard work and the energies, dreams, and immense talents of Dan Hinkley and Robert Jones....and now a guy from the east coast decides to auction off what's left?? Seems so weird...what a saga and an ending no one could have imagined.....

And if you're wondering if the gardens have been taken care of since George Ball took over? Here's what he says himself on his blog:
Claim: The garden is poorly, if at all, maintained.
Fact: This is pure nonsense. The garden needs very little maintenance; it’s essentially self-maintaining. Since 2007, maintenance has been conducted by two halftime gardeners. When there is an Open House, a landscaping crew comes in and cleans the paths and many garden beds.
Essentially self-maintaining gardens since 2007? That says it all....

The saddest part is that efforts were made to purchase it for a horticultural foundation/botanical garden when it was first offered - for an amount larger than that - and it was declined.
I suppose the happy part of the story is that there is Windcliff now!

This is sad. I do hope whoever buys this amazing property has high ideals and inspiration to continue the dream.
