One more bouquet before we fly off to New York to see the High Line...finally. I haven't seen it yet, let alone the new part just opened, and we're staying in Chelsea very near to it so I'll be able to visit and photograph at various times of day and evening.
I'll write about the HighLine and its extravagant plantings and cool architecture for Pacific Northwest magazine, but the real reason for the trip is to celebrate my birthday by going to museums and gardens....so watch for posts on the Conservatory Garden in Central Park (which I've never managed to see at a good time of year), the Monet exhibit at the New York Botanic Garden...and maybe a bit about the fashion show at the Met??
In the meantime, I was so tempted by the intense purple shades of spring, and so wanted to spend time in my garden before leaving, I pulled together one more bouquet... I expect the garden will look very different when I get home, it's all changing so quickly this time of year...
The perfect bud is a 'Kopper Kettle' peony, the allium is 'Purple Sensation', and the little golden orange flowers are from a drumstick primrose, just coming into bloom. There are some chives and clematis fluffing out the base, and the ruby flowers are the obligingly long-blooming Astrantia major 'Hadspen Blood', so much prettier than its name. And the flowers are more ruby, or perhaps Bordeaux, than blood-colored...

Just yesterday a client and I were speaking of the High Line - have fun!! I'll look forward to seeing your post-trip blogs!

I planted the 'Kopper Kettle' peonie in my yard about two years ago. I am anxious to see it in full bloom this spring. Again, your photos are great...inspirational.
