It's probably not hyperbole to say that there's nothing, nothing you can do (perhaps short of becoming vegan) to help the ecology of our city, and of the entire world around us, than to become an organic gardener. But it can be a challenge to change our ways...
Seattle Tilth comes to the rescue this month with their 3 week, Comprehensive Organic Gardening Course, starting Tuesday evening September 11. This complete introduction to the world of organic gardening is geared to urban gardeners, with an emphasis on edibles (of course...this is Tilth after all...). It's their most intensive and hands-on class, designed to teach you both the scientific and practical aspects of gardening with earth's rhythms rather than against them.
Directly from the press release: " Participants will leave fully equipped to take several next steps in producing food for themselves and their families and gain a richer understanding of how to support a healthy ecosystem while managing a productive organic vegetable garden."
