Okay, I'm excited about Plant Amnesty's 25th birthday benefit shindig on December 5th....it takes Cass Turnbull's energy and party-throwing skills to get the horticultural community together.
Not only will there be a glam setting, a sit down dinner and plenty to drink, a garden auction - where else can you buy a tree tour with Arthur Lee Jacobson, a Little and Lewis garden tour, Ciscoe Morris on your outgoing phone message (????), books signed by the many local authors attending, planted up pots, a Wells-Medina gift certificate....) but also Cass has rounded up all her long-time gardening friends to host the tables.
It's time to buy your ticket and support all the good work done by Plant Amnesty for the last quarter century- close your eyes and picture trees along the streets of Seattle poodle-balled, your neighbor's front garden sliced and diced into stubby shrubs - and remember all we owe to the vigorous education in pruning and plant care bestowed by Plant Amnesty. And there's more work to be done, more chainsaw happy pruners to educate.
Cass is on the job:
And we want to keep her there....
Here are the details:
Celebrity Gardener Gala Auction and Dinner
Wednesday December 5, 6:00 p.m. at the Seattle Golf Club next to the Highlands...
Reserve your seat before November 27; $120 for PlantAmnesty members, $170 for non-members (time to join!!) and $990 for a table of eight guests.
Register at PlantAmnesty.org or call 206-783-9813
This is going to be a glitzy evening - how often do you get to see Dan Hinkley, Ciscoe Morris, Richie Steffen, George Little, David Lewis, Cass herself, and yes, me, all dressed up and in the same room at the same time? I haven't witnessed such a phenomena since Cass threw a benefit party a decade ago.
Hope to see you there....come sit at my table...and support the good work done by the skilled horticulturists of PlantAmnesty...

See you there, Val!
